Jackson entered the Starbucks casually, not bothering to shake his jacket off from the rain that had pouring down outside. His orange-blue plaid hood slid off his long-brown hair. He gazed around at the people staring at him: the newcomer. Rolling his gorgeous baby-blue eyes, he turned his attention to the girl at the counter. She looked nice enough, so he smiled that sweet smile of his "Good afternoon." He winked afterwards.
The boy gazed up at the menu and said, "I'll take a venti Caramel Apple Spice." He fumbled for the black-and-white checkerboard wallet that always seemed to lose itself in his back pocket. Handing her the money, Jackson smiled once again, but it immediately turned to a frown when he turned his back. God, this must suck. Doesn't anyone actually live here? Where's all the action? The brown-haired boy thought to himself quietly, but turned back towards the counter to grab his drink. "Thanks, again." He winked and gave the girl (the tag named her Tina) another casual smile.
Jackson turned around to walk over to the seating area and plopped down at a table with a single chair. He swung his backpack around carefully and set it on the table, taking out an old, worn copy of 'Angela's Ashes' by Frank McCourt. The backpack he carried held few valuables and was a faded orange shade. It reminded him frequently of a rotten orange. Without the mold. Jackson chuckled to himself. He turned the weathered pages carefully and returned to the story. Sipping on the spice, he mauled over the book in his head as he turned to look outside the window.

The only reason she was allowed here today was because of work. She didnt think that following in her so called 'parents' footsteps would even do her any good. She looked at Tina with a smile when she just got done with a boy customer. She waved at Tina and went in the back to clock in and then take Tina's shift so she could go home.
Clocking in and then taking her spot, she looked out at everyone that was there. She liked to know who was there and see if she could tell what kind of person they were so if she walked up to them, she might have an idea what really could tick them off. The gentleman in the tux that was in the corner was very proper and he liked things done rite. At least that's what she got from looking at him. If he wasn't that way she wouldn't be surprised at all and treat him like ever other human out there.
She looked at the boy that had just sat down when she got there and gave him a small wave and then continued on with her job, she wasn't here to wave off boys. She was here to walk, it was her only freedom away from home. Being the place was packed but no one was coming to the front or there was no new customers coming in she thought it would be a good idea to wait on people. Riley picked up her feet and walked over to the boy. Can I get you anything sir? she asked with a pleasing smile.

I sighed as I walked into the tiny little Starbucks that stood not far from my humble abode. Really, I was able to walk to it everyday, that’s how close it was. Soon, I stood before the glass doors that led into the coffee shop, happy to have finally reached my destination. Today, it had decided to rain, but it was better than staying in my dark and dingy house, alone while my mother was at work.
I received looks from the regulars that recognized me, having seen me here everyday since I had moved here not to long ago and curious faces from others. I ignored them all as I walked towards the counter and ordered my coffee. Grande White Chocolate Latte with peppermint syrup, I said, receiving a nod and a “coming right up!” from the girl working there. So, as I waited, I looked around the room to see what kind of options I had to choose from.
To my surprise, there weren’t as many people as I had suspected, and there was still a comfy looking couch beside a window. That would be a relaxing spot, I thought. The sounds of the rain along with my coffee would soothe me, relaxing me further than the pretty piano music that filtered through the speakers would.
But, I also noticed during my run through, that a very cute boy happened to be sitting in a chair next to the one I planned on occupying. He seemed to be reading a book that looked familiar. As I tried to focus on the book, my coffee was ready so after I accepted the caffeine-filled drink, I waltzed over to the spot I had previously marked.
As I arrived and sat on the comfy looking couch, I came to find that it was indeed very comfortable and I appraised myself on the selection. Sighing contentedly, I took out the book that I had previously read and engrossed myself in the wonderful world of Twilight.

Jackson watched contemplatively as a brown-haired girl entered the establishment. He nodded to himself and looked up just in time to have a different girl in smock come up to him. Jackson smiled and said, "No, but thank you. I'm Jackson. Nice to meet you. What would be your name?" He put his hand out to shake hers. He shook his brown hair out of his eyes. Jackson smiled again as she shook his hand. Her hands were soft...and small. He watched her, but turned some of his attention to the girl who had just come in.
She was very pretty, and had gotten out a copy of "Twilight" from her bag. His eyes appraised her selection. He had read the series before. Very well written for such a new writer. Jackson could smell the chocolate and peppermint. It smelled very nice from where he was sitting. Jackson turned his gaze back to the girl in front of him, wondering what she would say or do next. Talking again, " Maybe you can show some of the sights here; I'm new t this town." He winked, but didn't mean to offend her if that's how she felt.

Being a waitress she was practically trained to smile but his presence made her want to smile because she wanted to. She took his hand in a hand shake and stared back into his eyes. Hello Jackson, I'm Riley. Some say it was boyish name but it could be a girls too and that's exactly what her daddy had done to her.
She noted the woman coming in and smiled at her. She had to take her order as well, well more see if she needed anything. I would love to show you around, I get off in about six hours. I can meet you here if you'd like. Or are you busy today? she asked. She could always help him later. Then again what would her parents think. The only things she ever got to do was go to work, she was lucky to do even that! How would she be able to show the town to a boy she just meet?

You are my life now, I read, a shiver running up my spine as the sweet, romantic words leapt from the page and into my eyes which ate up the words like the sweets that I adored so.Why can’t all men be like Edward, I mournfully thought. In fact, this thought was what brought me out of my Twilight induced trance. Just in time by the looks of it for I pulled out in time to catch the handsome boys name. Jackson. So that’s his name, I thought, reveling in how Southern it sounded. Though, if the boy was southern, I could not tell. I then heard the boy ask her if she could show him around town since he was new. And by the tone of voice, I could just tell this boy was a player. This slightly turned me off. I mean, sure he may be good looking, but I hated it when people used their looks like that to lure people in. I was waiting for the girl to decline, hoping she did so she wouldn’t get hurt when she accepted. I could almost feel the waves of annoyance coming off of me. But, I had to admit, if I wasn’t simply observing the matter, I probably would have accepted myself. I mean, there’s a big difference from hearing someone’s voice and seeing them hide it in person. And, he was very, very good looking.

Jackson smiled as Riley said yes to showing him around. He noticed the woman's entrance from the corner of his eye. He nodded. "Sure, I'll meet you here." -he chuckled softly- "All I have to do today is start unpacking." Jackson loved her smile; it was so sweet and energized.
He looked at the woman at the counter, seeing that she was being tended to by another employee. By the look she gave Riley, he could tell she wasn't in the most pleasant of moods. Jackson took a sip of his coffee and stood. "Well, I best be going, but I'll see you later, right?" He asked her this calmly as he pulled the worn backpack onto his right shoulder.

Riley gave out a smile and nodded to Jackson as he said he'd wait. It seemed rite after that he waved her off goodbye. Not that she was sad or anything, she had a lot to do before her shift was over and now to make it even more hectic she had plans. See you later, Jackson. Her foster parents would kill her for this but Riley was too nice to decline nearly anything, Jackson would soon find that she was a total pushover... a cardboard compared to a semi truck.
She walked over and smiled at the woman reading Twilight and went in the back to finish up some dishes and go through some drive-thru guests.
Hours passed it seemed and finally it was time to go. She clocked out and walked out of the working area, saying goodbye to some of her friends and continued forward. She knew she had to wait for Jackson but at this time he was the last thing on her mind. What was really getting her was her 'parents'.
She sat in his previous seat and waited.
